Best Korean Drama of ALL TIME

What’s the best Korean Drama of all time? When I was younger, I keep on making a list of the Best Korean Dramas I watch every year (Best Korean Dramas in 2016 and Best Korean Dramas in 2017). I don’t know why I stopped. Probably because I focused mostly on my travel content. Now, I’m making a list of those that I’d love to watch over and over!

1. Go Back Couple

  • Release Date: October 13 – November 18, 2017
  • Number of Episodes: 12
  • Genre: Romance, Comedy, Drama
Best Korean Drama of all time

Reason to Watch This Kdrama:

Go Back Couple is an underrated Kdrama. I think that this one deserves a highlight because it shows the reality in the life of a married couple. Unlike other dramas, the plot started on their wedding and how they had some misunderstandings in their married life which lead them to file for a divorce. What’s the twist? Both of them suddenly woke up in their 20 year old body. They traveled back in time when they met for the first time. Their acting skills and the plots are great. I keep on finding myself laughing and crying at the same time.

2. Sky Castle

  • Release Date: November 23, 2018 – February 1, 2019
  • Number of Episodes: 20
  • Genre: Satire, Drama, Dark Comedy
Best Korean Drama of All Time

Reason to Watch This Kdrama:

Sky Castle is a Kdrama about four women who lives in a luxurious neighborhood named Sky Castle. It shows how they help their husbands and how they raise their children to be successful. What I like about it is that it really depicts the different types of parenting styles. In Korea, SKY stands for the top three universities in Korea: Seoul National University, Korea University, and Yonsei University. It’s like the BIG 4 in the Philippines (UP, ADMU, DLSU, and UST). Most people believe that being in a top university guarantees success to their children. In Sky Castle, you’ll see how parents in Korea push their children to study hard to pass the college entrance exam.

3. Itaewon Class

  • Release Date: January 21, 2020 – March 21, 2020
  • Number of Episodes: 16
  • Genre: Drama

Reason to Watch This Kdrama:

Itaewon Class is about a young man who planned to be rich and to get revenge to the people who mocked him when he was young and powerless. The story revolves on how he started his small business and how he valued his people. The principles of the protagonist are really admirable. There’s a lot of lessons to learn from this Kdrama. In addition, I like the character development of the casts!

The three Korean dramas written above are just my personal choice. I liked them because they have a unique plot and the actors gave justice to the characters. How about you? What is the best Korean Drama of all time?

I’m planning to make a recommendation for Historical Kdramas, Medical Kdramas, Action Kdramas and Fantasy Kdramas on a different blog post.

  5. Among the three Korean drama’s you mentioned I haven’t seen the Sky Castle. I’ve seen some parts on tv before but never got the chance to continue watching. So i might consider watching it this time. I like Jang Nara too, she’s already 39 and 40 in Korean age but still she looks so young.
