Home Design Ideas: Calla Lily by Renell Pacrin

Six years ago, I did one of the joyful moments in my life which is flower picking.  I took the liberty to harvest as many as I can, along the deserted road of Mt. Province on our way back to La Trinidad, Benguet.  Calla Lily is my favorite flower. It grows freely in quantities like a flower plantation in the mountainous side of the road.  I find Calla Lilies so lovely, elegant, sensual, glorious, dramatically beautiful and eye-catching, and as its white color symbolizes – purity and innocence.  These are some of the reasons why it is my favorite flower.

Calla Lily at Mima’s Homey

Let us go back to the interior of Mima’s Homey.  My very first cross stitch made was a Calla Lily.  There are beautiful cross stitch designs you can work on such as fruits, figurative images/characters, view of nature, animals, self portraits, personalized designs, the last supper, and others, too many to mention.  Mine was a symbolic one because it is my favorite flower.  I may not have fresh Calla Lilies everyday, but I have an undying white Calla Lily cross stitch in our bedroom wall. It makes me smile at every glance anytime of the day.  It took me months to finish it but it didn’t mattered. I was inspired and determined to get it done, framed, and finally hanged it on Mima’s Homey wall.

My husband and I have actually started to work on a huge cross stitch pattern, the last supper.  Because of its large size, we can work on it together during our free time at home.  Unfortunately, we were not able to finish it, it needs too much effort and patience than we thought.  We ended up for a wood carved utensils hanged in our dining room and not a framed last supper made of cross stitch that we have initially planned.  At present, I still have different cross stitch patterns on hand. Hopefully, I can go back stitching again one of these days.  For me, it is very admirable to have hand made decors at home, most specially if you’ve made it by yourself. 

My love for Calla Lilies didn’t stopped from the cross stitch that I have made.  Though they are artificial,  I have collected different colors of Calla Lilies and placed them in a large vase.  Each time I see a new different color, I buy a piece or two and add them to my collection.   A cross stitch of a bouquet with assorted colors of Calla Lilies will definitely give spark to my eyes. It gives warmth in my heart, and calming ambiance to Mima’s Homey.  I will add this to my wish list!
