Dating Apps for Solo Travelers

Solo traveling is fun and I can give you a lot of reasons why. Sometimes, you’ll get lonely, and you might need some company. Here are some of the dating apps for solo travelers.

1. Tinder

I think this is the most common and one of the oldest apps. Haha! This app was released in 2012. So how does it work? First, to create an account, you may log in using Facebook or using your mobile number. Second, you need to turn on the location. Once you created an account, you just have to swipe right if you like what you see, swipe left if you don’t. You may even click the star icon for the SUPER Like! If the other person swiped right too, then it’s a match. You may now message each other.

2. Bumble

Bumble is just like using Tinder. Except that, this dating app has a time limit. In this app women need to make the first move. After matching with a man, the woman has 24 hours to start the conversation. If a woman does not send a message within the day, the match expires. As soon as the woman messages the man, he will have 24 hours to respond to the message. If he doesn’t, the match expires too. Once both parties send a message to each other, they may now message anytime without the time limit.

What I like about Bumble is that there are some prompts that you can fill out to add in your profile, it includes height, star sign, educational level, religion, political view, and even the drinking and smoking habits. In addition, it also indicates what the person is looking for: relationship, something casual, or even marriage.

3. OkCupid

OkCupid is originally a dating website way back in 2004. In 2012, it became the first major dating site with an app. So what makes this different from Tinder and Bumble? In OkCupid, you need to answer some questions first. Then, you’ll see your similarities and differences from the other person. They use percentage to show this. Besides looking at the pictures while swiping right and left, you’ll also see how compatible you are with the other person.

These dating apps for solo travelers really helped me find new friends and new travel buddies. Dating apps are fun to use because it actually helps in boosting your self-esteem seeing how many people swipe right when they see you. However, we really should be careful in using it. There are so many people pretending to be single there. If you don’t want to be involved in a drama, do a little bit of background research about the person before deciding to meet up.
