Adrian Mendoza of Out On A Mission

We don’t meet people by accident. They are meant to cross our path for a reason. This month, I’ve decided to feature different bloggers who I traveled with in the past years. One of them is Kuya Adrian Mendoza of Out On a Mission. Both of us are members of the United Methodist Church and the South Bloggers. Just last year, I hiked with him at Mt. Marami. I got the chance to know him more and his mission. If you’re looking for a Christian blogger, you’ll enjoy reading his posts about his mission projects and sermons! In this post, you’ll get to know more about him too.

1. Are you a full time blogger? If not, what do you do besides blogging?

I only do blogging as a hobby and outlet of my thoughts.  I am currently working full-time in a children’s village for abandoned children who are physically and mentally challenged. Our goal is to help these kids ultimately become independent and self-reliant despite their special needs and be able to attain a more meaningful, productive and satisfying way of life. From time to time, I organize and join volunteer and mission trips and other church-related programs for young people.

2. What do you write about?

I mostly write about my volunteering and mission projects as well as my faith reflections. From time to time, I also write about food and places, people and culture, and I also share some of my sermons through my blog.

3. What inspired you to become a blogger? When did you start blogging?

I love reading and I’ve always been amazed by novel writers and how they are able to put their thoughts and imaginations into compelling stories. As I grew up and had access to the internet, blogs of people sharing their journey and feelings caught my attention. I started blogging in 2016 while I was serving a Global Mission Fellow in Zambia. I wanted and needed to share with the people and churches who have been supporting me and other missionaries how their prayers and giving has impacted me and the communities I am working with.

4. What motivates you to blog?

I am motivated to blog whenever I experience new things, taste new or and exotic foods, whenever I meet interesting people and hear stories of struggles, joy, and unity. I am motivated to blog whenever I get to go to new places and see the amazing wonders of nature.

5. What makes you unique compared to other bloggers?

I think the unique thing about me compared to other bloggers is that I am driven with my mission to travel, explore, and discover how we are all connected despite our differences in affirmations, language, races, and religion — and how our passion fits our purpose that is designed by of our Creator.

6. What’s the most viewed article in your website?

7.  What’s the best thing about being a blogger?

The best thing about a part-time blogger is that you get to have an outlet of your thoughts and reflections. It’s also nice to know that from time to time, readers are being inspired of what you share and you are somehow motivating them to pursue their passion and step out of their comfort zone.

8. What are your challenges in blogging?

It’s challenging to create a content that is within my niche or theme when I have many experiences and gigs that I can write about. It’s also challenging to get the rhythm or routine of consistently creating contents. There are contents that somehow loses its relevance or appeal if you have not published them right away.

9. Message for people who wants to be like you.

I’d like to share to everyone to be brave in pursuing their passion and put purpose into it. Get yourself insured and have an investment that you can look forward in the future or something that you can look back into once you feel the need to be back on track to society’s expectation and system.

10. If ever you’ll get a chance to Travel with Karla, where do you wanna go?

If I’ll get a chance to Travel with Karla, we’ll probably go on a journey to complete the historical sites on our Philippine bills.

Thank you Kuya Adrian! You reminded about my dream to visit all the historical sites on Philippine Peso Bills. I’ll definitely tag you on my next trip!
