Pad Thai in a Box – Betterliving Review: Affordable Thai Food for Your Next Craving

Last night, I suddenly found myself craving Thai food. You know the kind of craving that will not go away until you finally get a bowl of Tom Yum or a satisfying plate of Pad Thai? That was exactly how I felt, so I decided to order dinner from Pad Thai in a Box – Betterliving.

For this meal, I ordered three Thai favorites:

  • Tom Yum: 310 pesos
  • Pad Thai Thamada: 99 pesos
  • Mango Sticky Rice: 150 pesos

My total was 559 pesos, excluding the delivery fee. With a savory soup, a noodle dish, and dessert, it felt like a complete and reasonably priced Thai meal.

Delivery and Packaging Experience

My order was ready for pickup at around 6:10 PM and arrived at approximately 8:00 PM through Lalamove. Unfortunately, some of the Tom Yum broth spilled inside the plastic bag during transit, so the package was already a little messy when it reached me.

This is one area where the packaging could still be improved. Adding tape around the soup container or using a more secure, leak-resistant lid may help prevent the broth from spilling during a long ride.

The nearly two-hour travel time may not have been within the restaurant’s control. Some third-party couriers may accept multiple bookings, which can make the journey longer. If you live far from Betterliving, I recommend dining in, picking up the food yourself, or booking your preferred delivery service. You may also consider GrabExpress or another dedicated courier to give the food a better chance of arriving in good condition.

Tom Yum

Whenever I think about Tom Yum, I remember my trips to Thailand. The Tom Yum I tried there was so spicy that I always needed a bottle of water beside me just to finish and enjoy it.

The version from Pad Thai in a Box was much milder. In fact, I did not feel any spiciness at all. I believe the flavor may have been adjusted to suit the Filipino palate, making it a good option for diners who want to enjoy Tom Yum without too much heat.

If you prefer the bold and fiery flavor commonly associated with Thai Tom Yum, it may be best to mention your desired spice level when ordering. That way, the restaurant can let you know if they can adjust it for you.

What impressed me most was the serving of seafood. My order came with three large shrimp, which felt generous for the price. Even though I personally would have loved more heat, the good portion and approachable flavor still made it an enjoyable dish.

Pad Thai Thamada

At only 99 pesos, the Pad Thai Thamada is a budget-friendly way to satisfy a noodle craving. The first thing I noticed was the texture. The noodles were cooked well and remained pleasant to eat despite the long delivery time.

Like the Tom Yum, its flavor also seemed adjusted for local taste buds. It was sweeter than the Pad Thai I usually expect, and a friend who tried it with me had the same observation. If you enjoy sweet and savory noodles, you may appreciate this version.

I also liked the generous amount of tofu. The nuts and bean sprouts added a welcome crunch, giving the dish more texture in every bite. For its price, it was filling, flavorful, and satisfying.

Mango Sticky Rice

Of the three dishes I ordered, the Mango Sticky Rice was easily my favorite.

I was initially worried that the dessert might not stay fresh because of the long travel time, but I was happily proven wrong. The mango still tasted fresh and sweet, while the sticky rice was cooked well. The combination was simple, comforting, and delicious.

This was the dish that left the strongest impression on me. If you are ordering from Pad Thai in a Box Betterliving for the first time and can choose only one item, the Mango Sticky Rice is my top recommendation. I would definitely order it again.

Is Pad Thai in a Box Betterliving Worth Trying?

Yes, especially if you are craving affordable Thai food with milder flavors that are easy for many Filipino diners to enjoy. The portions offer good value, particularly the three large shrimp in the Tom Yum and the tofu-filled Pad Thai Thamada. The Mango Sticky Rice was the highlight of my meal and something I would gladly recommend.

There is still room to improve the soup packaging, and diners who prefer authentic Thai heat or a less sweet Pad Thai may want to communicate their preferences when ordering. Delivery arrangements also matter, especially if you are coming from a farther location.

Overall, my experience with Pad Thai in a Box Betterliving was positive. The meal satisfied my Thai food craving, the prices were reasonable, and the Mango Sticky Rice alone made the order worthwhile. Next time, I would love to try the food fresh from the restaurant so I can enjoy the dishes at their best.

My recommendations:

  • Best dish: Mango Sticky Rice
  • Best value: Pad Thai Thamada
  • Most generous serving: Tom Yum with three large shrimp
  • Best ordering tip: Request your preferred spice level and use a direct delivery option
