Gandingan Awards 2025: Weaving History for the Nation

In its 19th year, Gandingan Awards 2025 will honor various national, local, and online media on April 26 at the D.L. Umali Hall, University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB). With the theme “Tagahabi ng Kasaysayan Para sa Bayan,” the event will recognize outstanding media practitioners who weave the stories and narratives of the past. The organization continues to stand against the blatant distortion and erasure of history.

The Only Student-Led Media Awards in the Philippines

Since 2007, Gandingan Awards 2025 remains the only student organization-led and university-based media awards in the Philippines. The program continues to recognize outstanding development-oriented programs, stations, and personalities that amplify discussions centered on national progress.

A Rigorous Selection Process

The Gandingan Awards undergoes a rigorous selection process from 200 nominees who continue to highlight the significance of history in shaping national development.

A Celebration of Filipino Art and Culture

The awarding program will showcase the rich and vibrant art, culture, and history of the Philippines. It will feature performances by talented local artists:

  • Talahib People’s Music will present traditional and contemporary Filipino music.
  • Umalohokan, Inc. will perform theatrical acts that highlight cultural narratives.
  • UPLB Street Jazz Dance Company will showcase energetic and modern dance routines.
  • UPLB Filipiniana Dance Troupe will perform traditional Filipino dances.
  • UPLB Talent Pool will bring a variety of artistic performances.
  • Music for the Environment and Nation Development (MEND) will use music to promote social awareness.

These performances will celebrate Filipino heritage and creativity.

Supporting LILA Pilipina: Honoring the Stories of Comfort Women

In addition, Liga Para sa mga Lolang Pilipina (LILA Pilipina) is the partner community of the Gandingan Awards 2025. It is an organization of comfort women survivors from World War II. Its members were victims of the Imperial Japanese Army.

Upholding Truth in Media for National Progress

UP ComBroadSoc challenges the media to uphold truth through the Gandingan Awards. It promotes a people-centered approach to journalism. The goal is to contribute to national progress.
