Christmas is not only about a baby in a manger. It is about God loving us so much that He chose to come close to us. In this Sunday School lesson, we help children understand a beautiful truth of our faith: Jesus is the Son of God, but He became fully human, just like us.
The Bible Story (John 1:10–18)
The Bible tells us that Jesus is called the Word and the Light.
- He is the Son of God
- Yet He became a real human being
- He ate, slept, played, and loved
- He experienced life the same way we do
God chose to send Jesus to show us who He is and how deeply He loves us.

Tinuturuan Niya tayo ng tama
Pinapakita Niya ang pagmamahal ng Diyos
Hindi nawawala ang Kanyang liwanag kahit may problema
Why Is Jesus Called “The Light”?
For children, we explain this in three simple ways:
He teaches us what is right
Jesus shows us how to love, forgive, and do good.
He shows God’s love
Through kindness, care, and compassion, Jesus shows us how much God loves everyone.
His light never disappears, even when there are problems.
Even in sadness, fear, or hard times, Jesus’ light continues to shine and guide us.
The Message for Children
When we welcome Jesus into our hearts, we also become light.
When we:
- Are kind
- Help others
- Share what we have
- Pray
- Love people
We show the light of Jesus to the world.
Memory Verse
“The Word became flesh and lived among us.”
John 1:14
Activity: “I Am the Light of Jesus”
To help children understand the lesson better, we include a simple and joyful art activity.
- Draw a big sun in the middle of the cartolina. Inside the sun, write: “I Am the Light of Jesus.”
- Around the sun, children draw things they can do to be the light, such as: Helping mom or dad, sharing toys, praying, hugging a friend, and being kind at school. Each drawing becomes a ray of sunshine, showing light that comes from Jesus.
- Color and Enjoy. Encourage children to use any colors they like, have fun, and be creative.

“Jesus is the sun, and we are His light. When we do good, the world becomes brighter. Even small acts of kindness shine brightly in God’s eyes. ”
