The Baptism of Jesus is a beautiful Bible story that helps children understand how deeply God loves them. It shows a powerful moment when God speaks, the Holy Spirit appears, and Jesus is affirmed as God’s beloved Son.

This Sunday School lesson is designed especially for kids. It uses simple language and hands-on activities to help children connect with the story in a meaningful way. Whether you are a Sunday School teacher, church volunteer, or parent, this lesson will help children learn that God’s love is personal and meant for them, too.
Bible Story: The Baptism of Jesus
- Scripture: Luke 3:15–17, 21–22
One day, Jesus went to the river where John was baptizing people. When Jesus came out of the water, something amazing happened. The sky opened. The Holy Spirit came down like a dove. And everyone heard God’s voice saying: “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.” (Luke 3:22)
God wanted everyone to know that Jesus belonged to Him and that He was deeply loved.

Bumukas ang langit, bumaba ang Espiritu Santo na parang isang kalapati.

God loves Jesus, and God loves you, too.
Baptism is a sign that we belong to God. Even if children do not remember their baptism or have not been baptized yet, this story reminds them that God’s love comes first.
Learning Goals
By the end of the lesson, children will:
- Know that Jesus was baptized
- Hear clearly that God loves them
- Understand that baptism uses water as a sign of God’s love
Memory Verse
“You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”

Activities for Sunday School
1. Coloring Activity: The Baptism of Jesus
Provide a black-and-white coloring page showing:
- Jesus standing in the river
- The sky open above Him
- A dove representing the Holy Spirit
As children color, remind them that God spoke these words to Jesus and that God loves them too.

2. Quiet Reflection
Invite children to close their eyes for a moment.
Then, say softly:
“Imagine God smiling at you and saying, ‘You are my child. I love you.’”
This helps children connect emotionally with the lesson.
Today we learned that when Jesus was baptized, God said, “You are my beloved.”
God says the same thing to us. We are loved, and we belong to God.
Why This Lesson Matters
Teaching the Baptism of Jesus helps children:
- Build a strong sense of identity rooted in God’s love
- Understand baptism in a gentle and reassuring way
- Grow up knowing that God’s love is a gift, not something they earn
This lesson reminds children that before Jesus began His ministry, He was first loved and affirmed by God. That same love is offered to every child today.
