Dental Nook Co: Your Partner in Oral Hygiene

Dental Nook Co: Your Partner in Oral Hygiene by Renell D. Pacrin

Who is using Maxam toothpaste?  I did!  We did!  It is the only toothpaste we knew when we were kids.  Our mother buys few boxes whenever she purchases cosmetology supplies in Manila.  True or not, this article didn’t take a toll on us who used Maxam toothpaste when we were young.  And didn’t spare me too, to suffer from tooth decay.  And who used rock salt in tooth brushing?  I did!  We did!  The way we were in our dental care, where oral hygiene wasn’t given much attention during our childhood.

Dental Nook Co Experience

As a homemaker, it is not only the routine chores, preparing healthy meals, taking care of house pets and garden, that you need to attend to.  You have to ensure that each member of the household is in excellent health.  As a starter at Mima’s Homey, when our princess is ready for her oral hygiene orientation, I brought her to her first dental appointment when she was two years old, with a healthy and complete set of milk teeth.  It was a well-baby dental check-up and cleaning which became regular and enjoyable (because they have treats for kids after the dental check-up)!

Dental Nook Co:

According to our family Dentists, it is best to bring children to a dental clinic regularly, most especially when they are not in pain due to tooth/gum problems. This will avoid the tendency for young children to have a traumatic experience on their first dental visit.

Trainer for Kids (T4K)

When her set of permanent teeth started to come out, although her milk teeth are still well, she was prescribed to use the pre-orthodontic Trainer for Kids (T4K).  Since she’s still very young to have braces, the T4K was indeed of great help as a starting appliance in her tooth eruption guidance and correction.  We would like our princess to have a healthy and nice set of teeth, hence, we made sure of her daily T4K use as well as a constant routine check-up.  There was a time when we have to frequently return to the clinic for temporary filling’s repair of some of her permanent teeth.  It has something to do with her tooth anatomy (according to the Dentist) despite having a healthy dental and oral hygiene.

Braces

When she reached high school, she started using braces, then retainers during college.  And still, habitually visits the clinic for dental prophylaxis.  Whenever I see her perfect smile, I am assured that we have taught her a good oral hygiene orientation and norm.  I was able to spare her from sleeplessness caused by tooth decay ache. It is one of my unforgettable childhood experiences.

  1. i wish my tita dentist didnt leave the Philippines decades back. siguro para din akong si author na me nag alaga ng ngipin ko. baka teen pa lang ako eh naayos yung sungki kong ngipin. honestly rare na nagdentist ako kasi never din naman ako nasaktan ng ngipin. pero this reminded me na mag pa dentist na uli one thing i will do in the near future!

  2. ang galing naman ni author they’d been staying with their dentist for 20 years na. i wish we can have that kind of dentist. my family always go to the same dentist whenever we go home but that’s just once a year. we religiously go to his clinic and it’s always part of the itinerary coz he knows the four os us na. unfortunately, the pandemic has not allowed us to go home since dec 2019. kaya i am now getting recommendations here in Jakarta.

  3. I remember what my Mother told me when I was a kid “… the best investment I can have is having a good set of teeth and smile.” I thought my Mother was just being silly, but I realized she is right. That’s why I keep my oral hygiene like a religion, and never miss my quarterly visits to my dentist.
Here in Australia, I paid 4x the costs of what I was paying back in the Philippines. Dental doctors and related professionals are in-demand!

  4. The sooner children begin getting regular dental checkups, the healthier their mouths will stay throughout their lives. Early checkups help prevent cavities and tooth decay, which can lead to pain, trouble concentrating and other medical issues
