Home Design Ideas: Tarpaulin Pictures

Have you tried having tarpaulin pictures at home?

Along with furnishing Mima’s Homey is the aesthetic aspect.  When I was young, most houses I have visited have individual and family portraits hanged in the living room, framed or wood carved last supper in the dining hall, big calendar, bottle of wines, etc..  While others, which I thought are also decorative artifacts, are religious, superstitious beliefs, and indigenous tradition ornaments.  Ours are mostly commemorative taken from different places we’ve been, and some are gifts from our sweet and thoughtful friends.

There was a time when my eldest niece told me that it feels like she’s inside a museum whenever she visits us.  That’s a warning for me, Mima’s Homey is getting over decorated!  I have started to pack some of my souvenir collections from different parts of the globe.  It is one of the perks of working for an international organization for more than a decade, I have acquired an extensive collection.  Not to mention traditional dress, bags, accessories, porcelains, and souvenir shirts from different countries.

At first, I have wanted to have plants inside the house.  On second thought, since we have limited space/floor area. I don’t think it will be ideal and given the fact that I don’t have a green thumb, I can not take good care of them well.  Instead, I have asked my husband to be in charge of our tiny garden in our tiny front yard.  He had to put up huge pots for some plants (horse tail and pine tree) that I have requested.  The pine tree was stationed in our porch. It serves as our fresh Christmas tree during Yuletide season, with only Christmas lights decor.  And what’s left inside the house are large vases without fresh plants or flowers.

I have made a couple of our commemorative photos to be included in the frames to be hanged inside Mima’s Homey – a portrait of our amazing daughter (taken when she was five years old), and a group photo of my daughter, husband, and our nephews enjoying Boracay’s sunset.  Both printed photos are made of tarpaulin. They are not environment friendly but budget friendly instead.  This is experimental for me. I’m thinking that it will be much durable and affordable compared to photo paper.  They turned out to be perfect for me.  Hence, I have ordered another photo to be printed in tarpaulin.  The size was more than twice bigger than the first two. Sadly, the exposure was not adjusted before printing. It’s not okay for the tarp printing!

Whatever it is/they are, that will make your home cozy, cheerful, pleasant, welcoming, and warm is in your hands.  You can be creative and artistic and not necessarily expensive.

  2. okay sana ito kaso ang issue ko with tarps as decor is that they’re really glossy. If only meron mga nagpprint ng tarp photos as not glossy at mas malapit sa isang true photo then omg super budget friendly na, extra ganda pa ng room! Another one na medyo budget friendly idea is to also do crosstitch ng photos kaso super nakakapagod yun hahaha

  3. Yung mama ko naman dinisplay yung ibang mga tarpaulin na ginamit naming for her 50th birthday. And mahilig din siya maglagay ng mga picture frames pangdekorasyon sa bahay.

  4. Best Idea, sobrang NkakaAmaze to, Less Work na More Memories Pa Ang pwedeng Ibigay na mga Alaala ang pwedeng Ibigay sa tuwing nkikita natin yung pictures na yun ???, salamat sa pagshare ate Karla ???
