An Open Letter to My 30-Year-Old Self

This is an open letter for my 30-year-old self. I’m going back to the real purpose of my blog: to record my experiences and to share stories.

Dear Future Karla,

You wrote this letter two days after you attended your friend’s wedding. Yup, most of your friends are getting married and having babies. And you? You’re still dating guys from dating apps. You don’t feel any pressure at all. You’re living in the moment. Shall we say you still have commitment issues? Anyway, I’m wondering if you’re married now. Are we in a committed relationship now? If not, that’s okay. What’s important is that you are happy.

Stay in love with your family

How’s mom and dad? How’s Karlo, Karl, and Karlee? I’m not sure if you’re going to have your own place at 30 but I hope that you still make time for family. As of now, I’m really glad whenever we are complete in the house. I love how you provide their needs and wants generously. You are the boss right now. Haha! Probably after two years, Karlo and Karl will earn more than what you earn right now. That’s okay. That’s awesome! You can finally have your dream family trip abroad (if pandemic is over after three years).

Never give up on passion.

I wonder if you’re still active in blogging. Do you travel on weekends? Do you try new restaurants? Those might be uncertain but I think that you’re still teaching right now. Have you finally have the courage to have your own daycare center? If you’re not blogging or teaching, you’re probably busy being a full time mom. Or maybe, you’re now a mommy blogger who has her own school!

Be healthy and sexy!

At 28, you get around 8 hours of sleep every day. You also have abs ready to be flaunted on the beach anytime. I hope that you are able to maintain that. You gotta take care of yourself so you can take care of others.

Don’t be afraid to take risks.

If it scares you, it might be a good thing to try. Let’s be spontaneous once in a while. I hope you no longer feel guilty when you buy nice stuff for yourself. Do whatever makes you happy. Wherever you are right now, know that I’m proud of you.

PS. Did Leni win? I’m rooting for her. I believe that she’s the change that our country needs. If she didn’t win, I pray that our country is better compared to the current administration.

Love,

28-year-old Karla

  5. I like your open letter po, it’s very optimistic. The way you foresee your future is impressive. I like how positive your perspective is. It reminds me of my younger self, I was not that optimistic when I was at your age, perhaps because I have health issues that time, my views in life was not that good. Reading your letter inspires me, thanks.
