Etiquette Guide to Korea

Prior to traveling, reading about the culture of country is a must!

There are lots of resources online about etiquette in different countries. However, I think that having a book is better since everything you need to know is compiled. Fortunately, I found this book entitled Etiquette Guide to Korea.

Etiquette Guide to Korea is book that you’ll surely love to read if you’re passionate about studying the culture of Korea. I’m not in Korea at the moment but I can totally relate to almost all of the articles written in the book. Everything is on point!

Thoughts about this book:

I wish I’ve read this before I went to Korea. This book is very handy to those who have interest in going to Korea. It gives information about the language, the culture, and the lifestyle of Koreans.

Since I lived in Korea for two years, I can read and write Korean words. I can say that Hangeul is an easy alphabet to learn. What I like about this book is that they have pages about the Romanization and Pronunciation of Korean words. It includes the Korean letters, official romanization of the letters, and their phonetic pronunciation. In addition, the book also provides some Useful Expressions and Vocabulary. When I arrived in Korea, the only thing I know was Annyeong Haseyo!

This book showcases Korean’s culture. When you read the book, you’ll understand Korea’s shame culture, you’ll know the importance of respect and dignity in Korea, and the Korean-style management as well as the cultural aspects of Korea’s business etiquettes. Yolshimi hapshida!

Lastly, I like how this book tackled the lifestyle of Koreans. It explained why Korea’s National Slogan is “Let’s work hard!” I totally agree that most of the people I know in Korea are workaholics. It also explained the education system in Korea. The students’ lifestyle shows why Korea is one of most well-educated work forces in the world. In spite of their busy schedule, they also have time to dine out and drink. This book also explains what to do in those situations. They have dining and drinking etiquette guide!

I thought I already know a lot about Korea but reading this book made me realize that there’s so much to know about Korea’s language, culture, and lifestyle.

  1. i’ve never been to Korea before in fact I’ve never even visited that side of the world. So this sort of guide would come in but tickly handy for me as I have absolutely no idea on social etiquette over in Korea x

  2. This would have been helpful on my transit through Seoul! Although we weren’t staying over, we had a full day exploring the city. We had just come from Japan where etiquette is pretty big there too, but definitely would have been good to know a few more words of the local language and understand local customs more. Sounds like a useful book!

  3. I will most likely use this book, as it is very important in my line of work to know all the cultural c ustoms. Also, it sound like an interesting read for those who want to learn more of other cultures ????great review!

  4. This books comes very handy if you are interacting with the locals and aim to learn the Korean culture. I would really love to read this book, as I’m really fascinated with Korean language!

  5. Nice! Although I normally never study etiquette before visiting the country. I do if I move to another country to live.
Do you think the book worth going through for someone, who just goes to Korea for few days?

  6. Interesting to say the least. I rarely think about studying proper etiquette before travelling but I think I might have to start as I approach more asian countries. I like how the book breaks it all down for many different situations as well as offers other background to Korea that would inspire wanderlust & knowledge. Great find.

  7. Sounds like this book has a lot of useful information for anyone visiting or moving to Korea. Have yet to visit Korea but would check out this book when I do.
