A Blogger’s Marketing Proposal

Not all bloggers earn money from their blogs. Some of them just do it as a hobby. Blogging for me is just recording all your experiences. However, I’ve found out a way to make use of my blog. I’m now using my blog to get some freebies during my travels.

Disclaimer: I’m not an expert on this. I don’t have any background in marketing.

How to make a blogger’s marketing proposal:

1. Showcase yourself.

I am Karla Obispo, creator Travelwithkarla.com, a travel blog about different places and events in Korea and Philippines. As of now I have 90,000 followers across my social media accounts (Facebook page, Facebook Profile, Instagram, Youtube, Twitter) and an average of 2,000 blog readers every day from all over the world. Aside from my followers on social media, I was also featured in other famous websites.

Aside from my followers on social media, I was also featured in When in Manila, KAMI, and Two Monkeys Travel Group.

  • You have to let the sponsor know about your influence.
  • Use the hyperlinks to make it easier for them to check your social media accounts.
  • Be prepared for the statistics in your blog. You can screenshot them if you want. (You don’t have to attach it in the proposal. Just be ready when they ask for it.)
  • You may also let them know the brands who worked with you.

2. Lay the cards on the table.

I am writing to see if you are open to work with me. Would you like to sponsor me an accommodation for 2 nights? I’m planning to explore _________ on May 12, 2017.

  • Be straight to the point.
  • Give the exact details (duration, date and time if possible).

3. Make an offer.

In return, I will be including your company in my blog and promote them to my readers (One article in my blog, 3 pictures in my Instagram, and an advertisement in my Facebook page). I hope the marketing possibilities are appealing to you, and I look forward to hearing from you soon about a possible partnership.

  • Let them know what you can do for them.
  • Let them know that they need you.

My marketing proposal usually consists of three paragraphs: Introduction, Reason, and Offer. It’s up to you if you’re going to make it longer but I think it’s better if it’s short and simple.

Make sure you’ll do the review within the week and forward it to their marketing officer (or any of your contact to the company). I usually get the contact details from their websites.

It’s not always rainbows and butterflies. Don’t expect too much. You may get denied many times. Sometimes, you won’t be entertained. You may send a dozen of marketing proposal and only get two replies. Just be patient!

  1. Wow I love how straightforward your examples are, I learned something which I can use once I pursue vlogging.

  2. Thank you! I’m glad I helped you. I’m looking forward to read about your sponsored posts!

  3. This is a brave act Karla, and Im.proud of you for sharing this..Sometimes we are afraid to move forward for fear of rejection..This tip is as simple as abc but needs a tough heart to face rejection. I will keep all of this in mind. Thanks for sharing

  4. Thank you for sharing Karla ????

Yeahh,, sometimes it’s hard enough to find a right contact person in the some companies. Overalls, they just drops “info email” on their website. Whereas what we need to send our proposal by email to marketing, marketing communication, or even marketing director. How do you think?

  5. Great stuff Karla! I like the idea where you emphasize the importance of becoming more active on approaching companies to collaborate with – rather than staying content with just writing and hopeful to be discovered.

    1. Search for the website of your target sponsor and you’ll find their email address there. You may also contact them thru their Facebook Page.
There’s no directory of sponsors. You’ll just have to search them one by one. ????

  6. Thanks for sharing this information 🙂 I’m still a newbie in blogging but I’m hoping that I can use this information in the future. God bless you! 🙂

  7. hi! nice tip. but are you sending the proposals via email? also, where can you find a company which sponsors your trip? thanks in advance and more power to you.

    1. Yes, I’m sending them via email. I usually send them a PDF file of the proposal.
My entire trip isn’t sponsored. I just search online for attractions and products that might be useful for me. They usually have an email address in their websites. 🙂
