Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo

This drama started last November 2016, and ended up last week (January 11,2017). I only started watching this when people started asking me about the filming location Bok Chicken.

As of now, I’ve only seen the first four episodes. I would say it’s a usual rom-com drama. I feel that it’s overrated because of people using “Do you like Messi?”. I still can’t find anything special about it. Anyway, I’ll try to give it a chance and watch more episodes.

*Update*

I already finished watching WFKBJ! In every drama I watch, I always look for the *kilig* or the excitement factor. I want a drama that makes me giggle, laugh, or sometimes even cry. I didn’t regret giving it a chance. It became good from episode 12 onwards. LOL. I was bored at the beginning because I felt that it was slow paced like Reply 1988.

There are things I love about the show.

  • The insecurities of a girl which is very relatable
  • The friendship between the trio girls
  • The dedication of the coaches
  • The LDR scenes(I can totally relate!)
  • The father and daughter relationship
  • The flirting game
  • The food!

Anyway I’m writing this to let you know that I found out how to go there!

Bok Chicken

How to go to Bok Chicken:

  1. Take the Seoul Subway Line 4 and get off at Gireum Station (Exit 3).
  2. Go to the nearest bus stop and take bus 7211.
  3. Get off at Kukmin University.
  4. Cross the road, then you’ll see stairs going down.
  5. Go down the stairs and you’ll see Bok Chicken!

*Alternative route: If you don’t want any transfers, you can take any of the following buses: 110A, 153, 1020, 1166, 1213, 1711, or 7211.

Is it worth the visit?

I would say it isn’t. It’s far from other tourist spots. You really have to make an effort to go there and they don’t even sell chicken! LOL.

Seoul Museum of Art

I’ve been here before that’s why I remember the place. It’s in front of Seoul Museum of Art beside Deoksugung Palace. You can go there by taking the subway line 1 or 2, and get off at City Hall Station.

Amusement Park (E-World)

The amusement park is located in Daegu. It’s called E-World. I think I won’t be able to go there because I think it’s expensive. LOL.

How to go there:

  1. Take the KTX train from Seoul to Daegu.
  2. Get off at Duryu Station of Daegu Subway
  3. Walk straight until you reach the intersection.

Inha University

This is where the swag couple studied. The soccer field in their poster is located here.

How to go there:

  1. Take the Seoul Subway Line 1 and get off at Juan Station.
  2. Take bus 511 and get off at Inha University.

Yongin University

This is where the wishing fountain is located. I’m sorry for the wrong info earlier. I thought it was in Inha.

The wishing fountain lies on a small pathway right behind the General Gymnasium

Geolocation: 37.227162, 127.167855 (source: Korean Dramaland)

  2. Hi karla!

Will go there next week. Doing my iti now.
    Thanks thanks!!d

  3. Hi Karla!
thanks for the great article, do you know the name of the place where Joonhyung asks BokJoo to date him for a month? (it’s near the end in ep11) The place had a great night view of the city, I’m going to Seoul and I’d love to go there 🙂

  4. Hi! Thank you sa info na pinost mo! I hope you get to read this comment! Did you get the chance na pumasok sa university? Haha punta ksi kami seoul next week, and sobrang gusto ko makita yung wishing well at yung oval na location nila hehe dadayuhin ko talaga yung Inha kasi super nabaliw ako sa sweg couple!

Salamat!

  7. Hi, just wanna ask couple of Qs. :)) How many minutes did you walk from Gireum Station to bus stop? From the university, what bus number do I need to ride to return to Gireum Station and will it be the same bus stop that you alighted going to the university? Thank you! 🙂

  8. Hi. At last found what I’m looking for hehe. Ate where is the fountain located? Is it inside the school ba? I badly want to go there when we travel to S.Korea.

    1. I think it’s in Wolmi Theme Park. I have been to Seoul Land, Everland, Lotte World, and Aiins World. They don’t have an attraction called Viking so I think it’s in Wolmi Theme Park located in Incheon.

  9. Based on my post-analysis, for me WFKBJ is the best among the 3 soundy kdramas (WKFBJ, LOTBS, and Goblin) though I think it is somehow overrated it tells us the story of a real couple going into a relationship, pati na rin yung kwento ng pamilya at pagkakaibigan pero syempre di mawawala yung pagkain! Woooh! It was so different from other typical kdramas I’ve ever watched, kasi fullpack na to ee. Yes hindi siya sumikat sa Korea but other countries really really love it more than LOTBS and Goblin, especially here in the PH. And It is something that all must watch out. ????

  10. any way nakaka intindi ba sila jan ng english balak kasi namin na mag tour jan kaso baka mawala kami . baka walang nakakaintndi ng english jan patay kami . haha

    1. Siguro kapag medyo bata ung waiter baka marunong. Sa mga tourist spot lang kasi madaming marunong mag English. Pag ganito na medyo malayo, baka di sila marunong. Di ko rin alam kung may picture yung menu sa loob. Dun sa labas kasi nakasulat yung menu in Korean.

  11. Hi ate Karla! Tanong ko lang if its possible na makagawa ka rin ng list ng shooting locations ng wfkbj in the near future just like what you did sa legend and goblin? Thank you. ????????????

  12. Didn’t you try their chicken?

WFKBJ isn’t overrated for me and I dont think sumikat lang siya because of “do you like Messi?”. In fact, “WFKBJ” and “Joon Hyung” trended nung wala pa yung do you like Messi craze. Not sure why you don’t find it good but just continue watching. Kilig scenes are on the latter part. 🙂

    1. The first part is really boring for me. Hehehe. Like after watching an episode, I always ask myself if I should continue or not. I started liking it on the latter part, like Ep12 onwards. LOL

  13. Where is the amusement park location of this drama? Everland? Seoul Land? Thanks in advance 🙂

        1. I think it’s in Wolmi Theme Park. I have been to Seoul Land, Everland, Lotte World, and Aiins World. They don’t have an attraction called Viking so I think it’s in Wolmi Theme Park located in Incheon.

      1. Done! and in my opinion Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo got famous because Joon Hyeong and Bok Joo’s relationship is practically everyone’s #relationshipgoals ^^ And I agree with Ms. Anna’s comment, super relatable si Bok Joo with her problems and insecurities.

  14. Yay! 🙂 Will definitely check this out on my next Korea trip (kahit di ko pa alam kung kelan). This drama may not be everyone’s cup of tea but it has its own charm. Thanks for giving it a chance. Enjoy the rest of the episodes! 🙂

      1. Yes, those two are really great dramas! 🙂 I find WFKBJ realistic and somehow nakakarelate ako kay Bok Joo at sa pinagdadaanan nya sa story kaya siguro ganun. I recently followed you in FB nga pala, di na makaaccept ng friend request eh haha! Hope we can meet and tour together in future. 🙂 I regret not dropping you a message (to meet) when I was there in Seoul.
