Gapyeong Rail Park

On my fourth visit to Gapyeong, I finally got a chance to try the Gapyeong Rail Park! I went there after Christmas. The trees are withered. The weather is cold. You really have to wear the proper winter attire.

There are two kinds of bike there: two-seater (25,000) and four-seater (35,000)

The total distance from Gapyeong Station to Gyeonggang Station is 4 Km. It means that you have to do some leg work out for 8 Km. It took us 1 hr and 20 minutes.

Gapyeong Rail Park Time Schedule

They have 5 round trip courses. You have to choose when making a reservation.

  1. 9:00 to 10:20
  2. 10:30 to 11:50 (I chose this one!)
  3. 12:00 to 13:20
  4. 14:00 to 15:20
  5. 15:30 to 16:50

Their peak season is May 1-31, July 20 – Aug 20, and October 1-30. Many tourists go there during Spring, Summer, and Autumn. We went there during winter that’s why there are not much people using the bikes.

The landscape is really amazing.

We chose the second to the last bike. It was a good choice. We weren’t pressured to move fast since only one bike is behind us. However, the first bike have kids on it. I think they got tired easily and they moved slower on our way back to the Gapyeong Station. I heard that some Ajummas behind us, shouted Palli Palli! It means faster.

I couldn’t blame them. The weather was really cold, and it could make your fingers numb if you’re not wearing gloves. LOL. Despite the cold weather, I enjoyed biking and taking pictures while on the bike. I got so busy taking pictures and didn’t notice that the bike in front of us is not moving, we weren’t able to use the break on time. (Tip: Make sure to use the break so others won’t get annoyed.)

If I get a chance, I’d love to visit it again on Spring or Autumn. I recommend this place for couples, friends, and family trips.

Making a Reservation

You need to make a reservation before going here.

It’s not possible to change the reservation date, time, and number of bikes booking. You have to cancel your payment and make another reservation.

How to go there

From Seoul, take the train going to Gapyeong Station. You can take the all stop train and pay using your T Money, or take the ITX train and buy a ticket worth 6,400 won. Upon arriving in Gapyeong Station, you can take the Gapyeong tour bus or taxi to go to the Gapyeong Rail Park.

I feel for you that you were stuck behind two adjummas…those ladies are no joke! When an adjumma yells “Palli palli!” at you, it’s time to kick it into high gear! ????
