Seoul Rose Festival

Seoul Rose Festival is one of the festivals you must visit during summertime in South Korea. They have lots of exciting activities!

“Better to see something once, than to hear about it a thousand times”

That quote is one of my mantras. For the past few months, I’ve been trying to visit places I’ve never been to. I try to explore at least one place a week. Nothing beats first-hand experience.

Seoul Rose Festival

Spring is the season of many flower festivals in Seoul. I did some research and arranged my schedule so I can witness them.

Rose Festival-9

The Rose Festival happened last May 20-22, 2016. It was held at Jungnangcheon. Since my only free day is Monday, I went there on the 23rd. I think it was also a good choice to avoid the crowd.

People go there to experience the longest Rose Tunnel in Seoul. I did my best to finish that 5.15 km tunnel! I’ve seen some old people stopping at one point and having their picnics on the side. Finishing the tunnel feels like an achievement.

I was amazed by all the flowers in the venue. It’s my first time to see different kinds of roses in one garden. There were over 72,000 roses of more than 40 varieties. Being a nature lover, I really enjoyed the place.

Besides the flowers, there are also photo opts along the tunnel. I used my *Korean skills* to ask people to take my photo.

What happens during the event?

They had a theme every day.

  1. Rose Day – There was a Rose Parade, and a Rose Song Festival.
  2. Lover’s Day – There was a Rose & Music Party, and a Multicultural Festival.
  3. Wive’s Day – There was a Garden Dinner & Show for 30 chosen couples, A Dance Party, and some fireworks

How to go there:

Take the Seoul Subway Line 6 and get off at Taerung Station (Exit 8).
